Though I haven't posted in six months I have had some amazing hands on fashion experience during this time. I also took the break because I started to feel confused about what to post on this blog. I didn't feel like my content was very novel or focused in one particular direction. There are so many fashion bloggers I admire but I want my blog to be truly my own ideas. Here are some things I've accomplished recently that I feel good about:
- I applied for graduation - I graduate this December with my B.A. in Fashion Merchandising!
- I worked at Victoria's Secret for 3 months last fall to learn about retail. It was a requirement for a fashion course I took last semester and I learned so much about visual merchandising and selling.
- I began a fashion design internship this January in Downtown L.A. I have learned so much these last three months! I've enjoyed presenting my boss with trend forecasts, learning how to measure a garment for shrinkage, learning about technical packages, etc. The company makes all their clothing in the U.S.A so it's also been a great experience getting to learn about that process.
- I put together a professional portfolio of my work for interviews
- I'm half way through some really cool courses in school including Trend Forecasting, Global Sourcing in the Fashion industry, Fashion Promotion and Advanced Textile Science.
I don't know about you, but it's so much easier for me to look at all I haven't accomplished in any period of time, so for me making "progress" lists like this is essential.
